From the article: How Can I Stop Snoring?
Snoring can be obnoxious and harmful to your health. With all of the research on snoring and sleep apnea there are bigger reasons to stop than having your spouse sleep in a different room. If you've successfully stopped snoring we'd love to hear what your motivation was and how you did it. How Did You Stop Snoring?
Snoring
- Um.....well I don't really snore but my mom and dad do and they are loud! When I'm really tired I just elbow them and try to go back to sleep before they start again. But what really helps is to take a congestion medicine or where noes plugs (for like the pool) or just rub a warm rag on your face. That's what helps my mom! Thanks for reading and good luck with your snoring.

Surgery
- I had the UPPP procedure. ( http://www.sleepapnea.org/resources/pubs/snoring.html )and it has worked for me. It is a one-day surgery where they take your adenoids, tonsils, and uvula out. I had a very small airway and that's what was causing the sleep apea and snoring. I am now sleeping better and do not have the 3:00 slumps during the day. I have more energy and do not feel as depressed and my blood pressure is down. This may not be for everyone but it was for me. PS: It was a bit painful for about a week but not as bad as what I was told. Or at least that was my experience.

Breathing Medications and Head Elevation
- My parents both used to snore so badly, it was honestly like a very weird symphony. Sometimes they'd even hold "snore conversations," making it very hard to share a hotel room! Turned out they both had asthma, allergies, and chronic bronchitis. Several pulmonologists and a nice head wedge later, I was finally able to sleep in the same hotel room!

Breathe Right Strips
- The Breathe Right Strips work....sometimes... but at other times, they don't.

Sleep more upright
- My husband sleeps on a wedge that raises his head and chest. It helps a bit. I also poke him and ask him to roll on his side, which helps.

Sleep on My Side
- My wife gives me a (usually) gentle hug, I roll onto my side and my snoring stops.

strips
- The breathe right strips worked well for my DH. His was allergy based. Glad we saw a doctor to get tested or I would have assumed the worst.

Semi-Successful...
- My husband has always snored. While we haven't been able to eliminate the problem, weight loss has helped, and sleeping on his side has also given us some success. I'd be interested to hear what works for others, though!
